What defines me?

Cancer , A Dozen Kids , Life, Struggle

Before meeting my fiancee’ I had never interacted with any bird of any kind. Never had one as a pet nor did I even really know anyone who did. I had a few acquaintances that had a bird or two but I had only admired from afar. When I meet Mack I couldn’t help but to fall madly in love. He has the best sense of humor! In the mornings if I am not cooking fast enough or paying him attention he will take to his water dish and start to fling his water at me. Quickly getting my attention as he desired. He will be sitting in his cage with me standing in front of it talking to him and he will just reach out and grab my NIPPLES! Yes, you read that right Mack that boy likes to cop himself a feel. He will hold my hand to through the cage. He can now say Mama pretty clearly but he only does when he wants to. Never on command. He reminds me so much of my son and his reactions to things. Relating a bird with a child with autism has really let me embrace Mack. I treat him as I do my son.

I understand his grumpy attitudes aren’t meant to be mean. His adventurous troublesome nature makes me laugh as well as keeps me on my toes. During the times he is trying to get into my cabinets or when he is eating the walls of the house! Mack has his own corner in the living room that we keep stacked of card board boxes. It’s become his little play area. He climbs through the boxes destroying them as if they have been giving him the stink eye all day and he must get even. He is just the most gorgeous bird I have ever laid eyes on. His colors are so vibrant! I can read his emotions through his eyes. It’s easy to tell when he is in a good or grumpy mood. He is the absolutely messiest bird on the planet though I am just sure of it. I swept the floors before bed just to wake to repeat them again. Yesterday Mack was enjoying hanging out in the kitchen and he thought it would be a fun thing to walk to his cage and begin to through out all of the pine shavings onto the kitchen floor. He was very entertained by his accomplishments. I was a bit less enthused. I couldn’t imagine what I would do with my time if I wasn’t sweeping the floors 10 times a day though. When he does call for me and I know he loves me as his “mama” it makes all the cleaning of his messes worth it.DSCN4441.JPGDSCN4441DSCN4403
